Canadian photo wins monthly contest

Staff Reports

When Gerry Myers spotted a gnarled tree stump on the shore of Fortress Lake in Hamber Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada, she knew her photo would be a keeper. Judges for the Carson Valley Photo Club's July contest agreed and awarded Myers first place.

Second place went to Tim Ford for his "Misty Pond After Hailstorm," photographed off Blue Lakes Road in Alpine County.

Nancy Hulsey's "Waterwheel," shot in Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC, Canada, won the third-place ribbon.

Club members were treated to a private photo showing by U.C. Davis photography professor Terry Nathan.

"Night Lights" is the theme for the club's August contest, to be judged at the club's annual pot luck dinner.

The club welcomes new members - amateurs to professionals - on the second Tuesday each month at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Information, club president Doug Dill, 783-4388.
