The R-C Morning Report

A flash flood watch goes into effect at 1 p.m. today and will last through this evening. There's plenty of moisture in the air and strong instability, which will combine to produce heavy rains, when it rains. Stronger storms could produce up to an inch an hour. Thunderstorms have also prompted a hazardous weather outlook. The weather should clear by Saturday with a chance for near record high temperatures both days. There's a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms after noon. Expect the high to hit the mid-90s.

Fire restrictions went into effect early this morning on the Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts, the Sierra Forest Fire Protection District and for land controlled by the Bureau of Land Management. That means that outside of developed campgrounds, campfires and smoking are prohibited. For more details go to www.sierrafront.net.

After a personal tour around the area, I can say that from the hieroglyphics on the road, it looks like they're getting ready to do some serious work on Kingsbury. Highway 89 between Myers and Hope Valley is a mess, and they're resurfacing Jacks Valley Road in front of the school. Expect delays.
