I've received word that work on the new Centerville Bar may begin in mid-August. The Valley landmark was destroyed in a fire on March 26, 2006. It was celebrated on the Carson Valley Days button that year and was the topic of a contentious planning commission hearing last year.
Searchers are seeking a 52-year-old man who failed to return from a hike in the Blue Lakes area on Sunday. Alpine and Douglas search and rescue crews were called out at about 4 p.m. Douglas searchers were called out again this morning to aid in the hunt for the man.
The fire weather watch begins 2 p.m. today, with thunderstorms expected today and tonight and then more through the week. A flash flood watch starts on Tuesday due to the possibility of heavy rain from the thunderstorms. Chance of rain hits 20 percent today and 30 on Tuesday. The high today should hit 96.
