Shrubs look like they came from 'It's a Small World'

EDITOR:

I too find the recently planted shrubs unsightly (ref. Barbara Griffiths' letter on July 9 about shrubs in planted in Gardnerville).

What seems interesting about this planting is that the bushes appear to be out of a movie prop for Disney's "It's a Small World."

They are totally out of place for this area. They appear to be dying or are at least turning brown. I don't think that they have watering devices so they will die. (That's probably a good thing). I could go on and on about this, what seems like a complete blunder for the person or persons who came up with this specific idea.

I wonder what they cost, what did it cost to plant them, what thought was given to perpetual care and who paid for them. Is this a good way to spend our tax dollars? Given the economy and its current condition it just doesn't seem like a decision that any thought was given to.
