Not a fan of new bushes

EDITOR:

A bunch of ugly poodle-cut bushes, shrub or plants have been planted here. They look like leftovers from a Japanese garden. Is this a joke? If it is, it won't fly. Who is going to maintain the poodle cutting?

In a casual gathering of neighbors in Chichester it aroused quite a heated discussion. Who OK'd this and why? If it was OK'd by the town, how much did it cost and who paid for them? This simply does not blend in with our desert environment.

One neighbor said he saw a truck with these plants and men planting them. They are ugly and everyone was more than irritated.

This is a lovely nature spot, place with ducks and fish and a place to meditate or walk. But these poodle-cut shrubs are an eyesore. I was sure they did not come from our local nursery. They know better.

But a call to the Gardnerville Town Manager's office reveals they were free, a gift from Costco. Some gift. Probably a bad buy. They needed to dump.

I was assured they would grow out in time.

This reminded me of my mother who cut my bangs. When she goofed, and I whined, she would always say, "Oh, well, it will grow out." I always asked, "When?"

So what kind of plants are they and how long will it take for them to "grow up" or "out?"
