The Korean War Veterans Association, Carson City Chapter No. 305, hosts a Rose of Sharon fundraiser, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 7, at the Smith's stores in Gardnerville, Carson City and Dayton. The Rose of Sharon is the official flower of South Korea, and is reproduced as an artificial lapel flower similar to the Buddy Poppies offered by some veterans' organizations.
Fundraiser proceeds support the Veterans Guest House in Reno, the Nevada National Guard 137th MP Co., now deployed to Afghanistan, and other veterans' activities in the area. Information, 265-2647.
