The R-C Morning Report

We've got some political news in the Valley today with a visit from U.S. Senate candidate Danny Tarkanian who's whistlestopping through the rurals today. He starts at the Carson Valley Inn at 11 a.m. Then it's off to Fernley where he's stopping at Mary and Moe's Wigwam at 3 and the Elks Lodge in Fallon at 5:30 p.m.

Tonight, a fundraiser for Gov. Jim Gibbons, will also be at the Carson Valley Inn, hosted by the O'Bergs of Fish Springs. A $125 donation is suggested for the 5:30 p.m. event.

The Douglas County School Board is meeting starting at 8 a.m. today at Genoa Lakes for their strategic planning meeting. They'll be reviewing the plan this morning and talking about the superintendent search this afternoon.

We've lost the sun today and it looks like the next storm is cooler and wetter than anticipated. It's supposed to be mostly cloudy with a high near 44 today. There's a 50 percent chance of snow tonight, with the levels lowering from 5,700 feet to 4,700 feet. Don't expect much from this though, since accumulations for both today and Saturday will be less than an inch, if anything.
