Girls' Basketball: Galena runs past Douglas

GIRLS

The Douglas High Lady Tigers basketball team fell 50-14 to Galena in Minden Tuesday night.

The Tigers trailed 11-8 after the first quarter and fell back 22-11 at halftime.

"You hold Galena to 22 points in a half, you're doing pretty good," Douglas coach Werner Christen said. "We figured we get a few stops here or there and convert it on the other end that we'd get right back in it.

"Galena got things going though and we weren't able to get the shots in the third quarter. It snowballed from there."

Indeed. Galena outscored the Tigers 22-0 in the third quarter and 28-3 in the second half.

"I thought I had a good gameplan set up for them, but it got us too far away from what we do," Christen said. "I take the blame for that. We just have to turn the page and get ready for Damonte Ranch on Friday."

Emily Burns led the Grizzlies with 14 points and Sara Lancaster had 10. Ebony Cleveland and Alex Laing tied for the team lead for Douglas with four points each.
