The Pau-Wa-Lu eighth-grade volleyball team defeated South Tahoe 25-7, 25-15 in its season opener.
Roccio Meza had 17 consecutive service points in the match.
The eighth-graders followed the season-opening win with a three-game loss to Eagle Valley 18-25, 25-13, 15-10.
In seventh-grade action, the Panthers beat South Tahoe 25-19, 15-25, 15-13 to open the year.
They fell short against Eagle Valley, 11-25, 25-15, 15-6 the following match.
