USDA offers jobs forum Thursday in Carson City

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is sponsoring a Rural Development Forum on jobs and economic development Thursday at Western Nevada College.

The purpose of the 1 p.m. forum is to bring together elected officials, small businesses, education advocates and economic development organizations to get ideas on what the federal government can do to stimulate jobs growth in western Nevada.

USDA Rural Development Director Sarah Adler will conduct the forum in Marlette Hall.

"The people closest to the problem often have the best insight into how to solve it," said Adler.

She said the public is welcome to attend and participate but seating is limited to about 120 people.
