The R-C Morning Report

The Cooperative Extension will host a session on radon 6:30 p.m. today at the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency offices, 128 Market St. in Stateline. Those folks who missed Monday's session in Sheridan Acres can receive a free test kit by going to the Douglas County Cooperative Extension Office at 1329 Waterloo in Gardnerville. It's a good idea to get tested, since nowhere in the Valley seems immune from the radioactive gas.

I'm posting a story based on a joint hydrologic statement issued by the National Weather Service and the Natural Resources Conservation Service that talks about the snow pack. I have a feeling though it doesn't include Wednesday's storms which added 14 inches of snow at Ebbetts Pass, and increased the snow water equivalent by 2.2 inches. Minden received .69 inches of rain in the storm. If the temperature had been a little cooler in the Valley, Wednesday would have been a very different day. If the storms coming in starting Saturday night are anything like Wednesday's, we can expect the snow pack to improve somewhat by the end of the month.

The forecast for today is for mostly sunny skies with a high of 50 degrees and calm winds becoming 5 mph. The low this morning was a chilly 20 degrees, so its time to bust out the ice scraper for a bit. The road controls site is clear this morning, and there are currently no accidents listed on the NHP's Web site.
