Storm dropped .69 inches in Valley

A storm dumped .69 inches of precipitation in Minden early this morning and a foot of fresh snow at Heavenly Ski Resort.

The snow level dropped down to the foothills in places along the base of the Carson Range, with Genoa receiving about a half inch of snow.

Minden Weather Watcher Stan Kapler reported nearly seven-tenths of an inch of rain, bringing the Douglas county seat to 5.5 inches so far for the water year.

Kirkwood Ski Resort's Web site reported 16-22 inches of new snow as of 6:30 a.m.

Snow also fell in the Pine Nut Mountains, making Highway 395 south of Gardnerville slick early this morning. A non-injury accident at Highway 395 and Double Spring Flat occurred just before 8 a.m.

Road controls on Highway 395 through the Pine Nuts have been lifted, though chains or snow tires are being required south of Walker. They also remain in place for Highway 208 east of Holbrook Junction and on Kingsbury Grade.
