The R-C Morning Report

Minden meets tonight to discuss a variance for a new sign for the Carson Valley Inn. The sign is 26 feet tall now, but in order to move it to a new location, the casino has to have a variance to deal with the new height limit of 20 feet.

Minden Town Board members meet at 6 p.m. The sign will come up for discussion at 7 p.m.

The cause of a power outage in Gardnerville at 4:55 p.m. Monday remains a mystery. NV Energy spokesman Karl Walquist said the outage was the result of a line trip somewhere between the Minden and Pinenut Substations. The line reset automatically. Power company crews went looking for a source, but couldn't find one.

Gardnerville Ranchos Improvement District trustees are hearing a request by district staff to revoke a $117,800 project award because the contractor won't sign the liquidated damages provision on the Bowles Lane water project. Western Nevada Supply will take on the work, according to the district agenda. The Ranchos board meets 6 p.m. in the district office at 931 Mitch Drive.

There's a chance of scattered rain or snow showers this morning before 10 a.m., but not a good one. The snow level will be around 4,800 feet, with the wind 5-10 mph. There won't be much accumulation. The high temperature today is supposed to hit 46 degrees. There is a much wetter weather pattern rolling in on Friday
