Gardnerville man gets nod for Minden manager

Gardnerville resident Roger Van Alyne was the lead candidate for the job of Minden town manager after a meeting Tuesday.

Van Alyne is the former deputy director of Washoe County Public Works. His job was eliminated in June.

Town Board members Steve Thaler and Ross Chichester are charged with negotiating a salary and a start date with Van Alyne.

He ranked above Assistant to Douglas County Manager Lisa Granahan and Boulder City's Dave Betley for the job.

The finalists were selected from 49 applicants for the new position which pays $74,246-$99,756 plus benefits.

With the departure of three veteran town board members at the end of the year, officials felt it was time to bring on a manager, similar to the function served by Gardnerville Town Manager Jim Park.
