Thanks for help

EDITOR:

The Young At Heart Board of Directors would like to thank the community for their heartfelt contributions, both monetary and in-kind, toward the Gift Bag and Adopt An Elder programs this past holiday season.

With these contributions we were able to fill 180 gift bags for homebound seniors. Assembly of the bags was assisted by students from Douglas High, Miss Southern Counties Outstanding Teen Leah Walters, and other members from YAH and the Senior center staff.

In addition to toiletries, goodies and other items too numerous to mention, each bag contained a lap robe or blanket made by the stitches knitting and crochet group that meets weekly at the senior center. Also included was a handmade Christmas greeting card by the third-grade students of Gardnerville Elementary.

The bags were delivered with help from the Douglas High Key Club students, advisor Vanessa Ozolins and several members of YAH.

The funds received and earmarked for the Adopt An Elder Program enabled those disadvantaged folks to obtain warm jackets, fresh shirts, pants and undergarments as winter begins.

Future allotments will be utilized for medications, dental needs, personal hygiene items and emergency rent assistance to name a few.

YAH continues to be pleased to accept the overwhelming generosity of our community and to provide help to seniors within Douglas County, at P.O. Box 1042, Gardnerville, NV 89410.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to these projects.

You helped to make a senior's Christmas a little brighter.
