Ex-manager admits Dairy Queen embezzlement

The ex-manager of Minden Dairy Queen faces up to five years in prison at his sentencing Feb. 15 after pleading guilty Tuesday to embezzling nearly $28,000 from his former employer.

"I stole money from Dairy Queen in town," said Carl Franklin Wilson Jr.

Wilson is eligible for probation, and has agreed to pay $27,828 restitution. As terms of a plea agreement, both sides are free to argue at sentencing.

He could be fined up to $10,000 in addition to the prison time and restitution.

Wilson told District Judge Dave Gamble he used the stolen money to pay bills and make purchases.

"There is no indication of drugs or a gambling issue," said Tod Young, Wilson's attorney.

Wilson was released on his own recognizance after his arrest Nov. 23.

According to court reports, the alleged embezzlement took place over three months from August through October.
