A memorial serivce is 11 a.m. Dec. 18 at the Walker Community Center in Walker, Calif., for Nevada native Maxine Ellen Sam, 72, who died Dec. 13, 2010, at Renown Hospital in Reno.
Born Aug. 21, 1938, in Stewart, she attended schools in Coleville and graduated from Lee Vining High School.
Her passion was her family and supporting her grandchildren in rodeo, basketball, baseball, softball.
Mrs. Sam is preceded in death by parents Leona and George Dick of Coleville; and brother Manuel Dick.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Joseph Sam of Carson City; son Faron Sam of Coleville; daughter Winona Sam of Carson City; sisters Ruth Holbrook, Meg McDonald, Esther Thompson, Georgia Grace Dick, and brother Stanley Dick; three granddaughters; one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
