Sierra Ballet presents holiday celebration

Staff Reports

The Sierra Ballet Theatre Company closes its fifth performing season with the "Madeline's Christmas" holiday show, performed 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the MontBleu Theater in Stateline.

"We are all very excited to be presenting a show near the holidays," said Kelly O'Fallon, artistic director of the Sierra Ballet Theatre Co. "We didn't want to do another 'Nutcracker.' We wanted to do something different and we have creatively choreographed 'Madeline's Christmas.' This lively and entertaining ballet was created based on the children's story of the 12 little girls in two straight lines, by Ludwig Bemelmens, and tells a Christmas story. From beginning to end, the ballet moves quickly. It is full of fun and exciting characters and is appropriate of all ages."

The ballet company also performs "Chopiniana" from the "Les Sylphides" ballet, and contemporary jazz pieces.
