Army guardsman Nicholas Moody released

The mother of a former northern Nevada Army National guardsman says her son has been freed from a United Arab Emirates prison and is heading home.

Lorina Moody told KTVN-TV in Reno on Monday that weapon charges in Abu Dhabi have been dismissed against her son, Nicholas Moody.

She says she hopes her son will be home in Reno by Christmas.

Moody is a security guard for a private contractor in Iraq.

He was arrested in Abu Dhabi in late September after airport officials found weapon accessories stowed in his luggage while he was returning to the U.S.

His mother says her son didn't know he was committing a crime because laws vary from nation to nation and he used the items for work.
