Minden eatery unveils new name

An established Minden restaurant celebrated its sixth birthday with a new name.

The Minden Food Co., formerly The Barone & Reed Food Co., announced the new name on Nov. 3.

"We just felt the time was right for this," said owner Alan Reed. "Obviously, the economy is still struggling, and using Minden in our name not only promotes the area, but it helps further pinpoint the location to our out-of-town guests."

Co-owner and General Manager Christoph Waldburger also noted his fifth year with the company.

"We've done a lot in the past year with the introduction of our loyalty plan discount program, an expansion of our lounge offerings, easy listening music every Friday night, in addition to our seasonal menu that features one dozen new entrees. We also have a mixed-grill blast every Wednesday night. Customers get their different cuts in one dinner entree that's priced at just $20 a plate."

The restaurant now features sustainable farm-raised beef, fish and poultry products, as well as regular specials that include past roasted prime rib on Fridays and rib racks every Saturday.

"We spent the past year really listening to what our customers want, and we've responded accordingly with some really tasty new dishes that are designed with the customers' pocketbooks in mind," Reed said.

Located at 1599 Esmeralda Ave., The Minden Food Co. is open for lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dinner is served Tuesday through Saturday from 4:30 to 9 p.m.

"There still is some availability for holiday parties," Reed said.
