Tree donation for raffle highlights downtown Gardnerville

Approximately 50 Austrian pines now adorn the sidewalk around Sharkey's Casino, at the corner of Highway 395 and Gilman Avenue, thanks to Dink Getty of Genoa Trees & Landscape Materials.

Main Street Gardnerville Program Manager Paula Lochridge explained that the trees will be raffled off to holiday shoppers.

"You'll have a chance to win one of the 50 15-gallon Austrian pine trees," she said. "Mr. Getty has made this generous donation to Main Street Gardnerville just in time for the holidays."

Raffle tickets are available at the following Merry Main Street businesses: 2nd Chance Furniture Consignment, The Angler's Edge, Battle Born Wine, Candles n' Crafts, Cheshire Antiques, CJS Floors, Classical Glass & Gifts, Country Carousel, East Fork Gallery, Especially For You, Fresh Ideas, Heirloom Antiques, Horse'n Around Western Gifts & Collectibles, Joyce's Fine Jewelry, Nutrition Unlimited, Pamper U ~ Exquisite Massage, Ruby Rose City & Saddle Clothes, Sapphire Wizard Fired Arts and Sharkey's Casino.

"A special-thank you to Ron Terrell and Sharkey's Casino for arranging the giveaway," Lochridge said. "Ron will be decorating these trees with lights and will keep them lit throughout the next couple of weeks. I think it will make that corner look pretty festive."

Lochridge said the raffle will help motivate people to visit participating businesses, "thus showcasing more of what our downtown has to offer."
