Comstock boom subject of Sept. 9 museum lecture

Historian and author Dennis Cassinelli talks about Douglas County residents' participation in the Comstock boom at the Douglas County Historical Society's lecture of the month, 7 p.m. Sept. 9, at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

Cassinelli is an outdoorsman, history buff, archaeology enthusiast and author of three books about the Great Basin. Raised in Sparks, Cassinelli developed an interest in Indian artifacts as a young boy working on his family's ranch. In the early 1990s, he identified hundreds of projectile points to create the Cassinelli-Perino Artifact Collection in the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center.
