The R-C Morning Report

More than a thousand sets of eyes and a fourth that many cameras, video phones, PDAs, and smart phones looked to the skies of Minden on Monday night to watch 10 men clad in white leather jump out of an airplane and land in the parking lot of the Carson Valley Inn.

Nothing that exciting is happening today, as the Douglas County Planning Commission and the school board both have light agendas. The biggest thing on the planning commission agenda is an amendment of the zoning rules on the expiration of a development permit. The planning commission meets at 1 p.m.

School board trustees will discuss accepting a $989,326 donation from the Community Foundation of Western Nevada to help install Promethean smart boards in Douglas classrooms. First up is Meneley, which will require some rewiring before the boards can be installed. It sounds like all the schools, except Jacks Valley will require work to accommodate the boards. Jacks Valley already has them installed. School board trustees meet 3:30 p.m. at Douglas High School.

It will be sunny with a high in the low 80s today. The wind will be between 5-15 mph, gusting to 20 mph this afternoon.
