Noble L. Roripaugh

A celebration of life will be held Aug. 29 at the home of veteran and retired firefighter Noble L. Roripaugh, 80, who died July 12, 2010, in Wellington. The celebration will be at Mr. Roripaugh's home at 1400 Topaz Ranch Road.

Born Dec. 1, 1929, at Lake Elsinore, Calif., to Barney and Eleanor Roripaugh, he was the youngest of three children. He served in the U.S. Navy and then with the California Department of Forestry until his retirement as a fire crew supervisor in Bishop, Calif., in 1987.

He married Joan Cooper on July 4, 1954 in Las Vegas. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying deer hunting with his son and arrowhead and artifact hunting with his wife, family and friends.

Mr. Roripaugh is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan; daughters, Debra Cook, Kim (Paul) Carlin, Nona ( Richard) Bales, all of Wellington; son Scott Roripaugh of Lee Vining, Calif.; granddaughter Kristine Gordon; grandsons Scott Tulette, Steven Cozad and Daniel Cozad; great grandchildren, Shelby Gordon, Cassidy Gordon and Ayla Vi Tulette; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
