A wildfire in Indian Hills was kept to less than an acre on Thursday night, after firefighters from East Fork, Carson City and the U.S. Forest Service responded.
The fire was first reported at about 8:24 p.m. East Fork Fire Capt. Terry Taylor said he could see the fire burning from his home in upper Johnson Lane.
East Fork Deputy Chief Steve Tognoli said the fire burned up a hill behind James Lee Park but that once the sun set, night time cooling slowed the fire down.
Firefighters got above the fire between the park and homes at the top of Vista Grande Boulevard.
Tognoli said that the fire was stopped well short of the homes in the area.
The fire was contained by 10:10 p.m. Units from Minden, Genoa, Johnson Lane and Sunridge helped extinguish the blaze.
The Tahoe Douglas Fire District's Zephyr handcrew will help with mop-up, Tognoli said.
An investigation into the cause of the fire will continue today.
