Business showcase ready for the crowds next week

The Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce's annual business showcase, the biggest local trade show of the year, is scheduled for 3 to 7 p.m. April 22 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

More than 70 local businesses are expected, showcasing their products and services, offering advice and specials and getting to know their customers better.

In 2009, more than 950 people took advantage of the gathering to visit with businesses, enjoy free tastings from participating restaurants and caterers and take away the prizes, one from each of the exhibitors, in a free raffle.

Participating restaurants and caterers who will be serving up tastings this year include Bella Vita Catering, Doppelgangers Restaurant & Bar, Indigo, Genoa Lakes Resort, Panchita's Killer Salsa, Scolari's and Wasabi, with more expected.

As for the raffle, in addition to the prizes from each booth, E Squared C is providing a Toshiba laptop computer, valued at $650, to one lucky attendee.

The event is open to the public. A special business-to-business hour, where exhibitors get a chance to network with each other, takes place from 2 to 3 p.m. There is no charge to attend the showcase or for a raffle entry.

Event sponsors include GE Energy, The Record-Courier, Scolari's, E Squared C, 99.1/KCMY and Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare. A limited number of exhibitor booths are still available to chamber member businesses.
