Learn about making movies in free event

Staff Reports

A free event for anyone who wants to be involved in making movies is 1-3 p.m. Saturday, upstairs at Sharkey's Casino in Gardnerville. Information, 782-8027.

Main Street Gardnerville and Nevada Casting Group host the seminar by Juli Green of Nevada Casting.

Green has two independent films in pre-production that are scheduled to be filmed this spring in the area. These films offer opportunities for residents of all ages and experience levels in lead, supporting and background roles and behind the scenes positions and location needs.

Audition dates will be announced at a later date, but Saturday's event is a sneak peek of what's coming. Green answers questions about acting, agencies, production, and gives information on how to get involved with these films.

Green was a model in the 1970s but realized it was more fun to work behind the camera. Since 2004, she has been the CEO of Nevada Casting, involved with print ads, commercial shoots and with films including "Showgirls," and "The Bodyguard."

Green worked on the Web series "Backwash," starring Josh Malina of "West Wing," and directed by Danny Leiner of "Dude, Where's My Car?" and "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle."
