Spring Fling dance Saturday

The Douglas County Senior Center hosts the community Spring Fling dance, 7-10 p.m. Saturday, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, 920 Dump Road, Gardnerville. Cost is $5 per person. Pony Express story time

The Douglas County Public Library presents Pony Express story time for children 3 and older, 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at 1625 Library Lane, Minden. Children write letters to be carried by Pony Express riders, to be picked up May 1 at the Pony Express mail exchange demonstration at Herbig Park across from Lampe Park in Gardnerville. Student art show Wednesday

The annual Douglas High School art show is 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the DHS media center. Artwork by ninth to 12th grade students. Free admission, silent auction. Information, 782-5136.


Slide show on Pakistan

A free slide presentation of "The First Descent of Pakistan's Indus River" and discussion of "Three Cups of Tea" by Jim Slade is 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Carson Valley Arts Council, 1572 Highway 395, Minden. All ages welcome. Refreshments served.


Senior driver course Thursday

The AARP Senior Driver Safety class sponsored by Carson Valley Medical Center is 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the conference room of the Carson Valley Medical Center administration building, 1107 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Cost is $14, or $12 for AARP members, payable at the start of class. Instructor is Irv Phillips. Bring a pen or pencil. Those who complete the course may be eligible for an auto insurance discount. Prom attire needed

The Douglas High School Key Club seeks donations of gently used or new dresses and suits for students to wear to prom in May. Tuesday. Tahitian chicken, rice casserole, braised red cabbage, bread, tangerine

Wednesday. Sloppy Joes, onion roasted potatoes, baby carrots, celery and yogurt dip, baked bananas

Thursday. Stuffed cabbage rolls, spaghetti salad, vegetables, roasted garlic bread, vanilla pudding

Friday. Seafood tacos with fruit salad, black bean salad, fiesta rice, sherbet
