What's going on during Candy Dance weekend

The 89th annual Genoa Candy Dance Arts & Crafts Faire is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The fair features art and crafts, food and activity booths and 4,000 pounds of Genoa's homemade candy. Admission is free.

During Genoa Candy Dance weekend, roads leading into Genoa will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Foothill Road at Candy Dance Lane, Genoa Lane at Kinsey Way and Jacks Valley Road at the Genoa Cemetery.

Parking in lots at road closure locations is $5 per vehicle, with free round-trip shuttles to and from Genoa from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Round-trip shuttle service is available from the Carson Valley Inn and Douglas High School parking lots, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, for $2.

This year's Candy Dance candies include fudge with and without nuts, Genoa truffles, rocky road, haystacks, peanut clusters, peanut butter cups, cappuccino cups, almond and pecan barks, Genoa twists, divinity, tiger butter, turtles, dragon eyes, krispie treats and marshmallow on a stick. Candy prices will range from $1 for krispie treats to $12 for a one-pound assortment box. The candy booth is in front of the Genoa Country Store at the corner of Main Street and Genoa Lane.

David John and the Comstock Cowboys and Lacy J. Dalton provide music for the annual Candy Dance dinner dance, 4-9:30 p.m. Saturday, in Genoa Town Park. Dance-only tickets are $15 at the door and in advance at the Genoa Town Office. Shuttle service available. Information at 782-8696 or www.genoanevada.orgĀ
