Senior education seminar Oct. 15

Douglas Country Nevada TRIAD in conjunction with Saint Mary's Hospice and Carson Valley Medical Center host an annual free senior educational seminar, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 15, at Carson Valley United Methodist Church, 1375 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville.

The theme of this year's multidisciplinary seminar on end-of-life care is Learning to Add Life to Days.

The seminar starts with breakfast at 7:30 a.m. and sessions beginning at 8:15 a.m. presented by representatives from Saint Mary's Hospice include information on hospice and palliative care, disease process and end of life decline, and grief.

Lunch is at noon followed by a panel discussion on ethical considerations and a presentation on keeping memory alive by Maureen Peckman and Susan Hirsch.

The seminar is primarily designed for physicians, nurses, caregivers and seniors, but it is open to all interested in the subject. Continuing education units available.

There is limited seating, so registration is required by Oct. 8. Registrations forms available at the Douglas County Senior Center, Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Saint Mary's Hospice or Carson Valley Medical Center. Information, 783-4815.
