The R-C Morning Report

We should have an identity of the motorcyclist killed at Highway 395 and Jacks Valley Road sometime this morning. The NHP identified the driver of the pickup who was hit from behind as Jerry Grist, 40 of Carson City. Mr. Grist was uninjured in the accident.

We'll also be providing an update on what happened at the Douglas County commission meeting on Thursday night. They were discussing water rate hikes for Sheridan Acres and Jobs Peak residents.

An Oregon man was arrested for taking a vehicle from a Virginia City resident on Thursday afternoon at Roundhill. There was a broadcast reporting the vehicle stolen 9:55 a.m. on Thursday. At about 12:10, Douglas received a call that the vehicle was broken down near Roundhill. Deputies found it at 12:20 p.m. and conducted a felony arrest. It turns out the person reporting the vehicle stolen called the alleged vehicle taker on the cell phone and was told where it was. The guy was taken into custody at 12:51 p.m.

The other shoe dropped on the expected cooling this weekend. It's because a cold front is rolling through on Saturday, bringing winds of 30-40 mph and dry conditions. The Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch from Saturday afternoon through to the evening. What the cold front doesn't appear to bringing is any moisture. That's too bad. Today's weather is expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the mid-80s.
