Woman found intoxicated in park

A 41-year-old Gardnerville Ranchos woman on probation for drunk driving was sent to jail Wednesday after she was found intoxicated at a park with a blood-alcohol content nearly six times the legal limit of .08.

Shannon Sunderland was found with a blood-alcohol content of .43 after deputies were called to a park Oct. 20 on a report of an intoxicated person.

She was taken to an urgent care center for treatment, then to Douglas County Jail.

Sunderland was on probation for her second driving under the influence conviction.

East Fork Justice Jim EnEarl revoked Sunderland's probation and sent her to jail for six months. He told her she could apply for admission to a treatment center.

"You're lucky you are not dead," he said. "You've got to sit down with some intent and purpose to get to a .43."
