Genoa Bar happenings
Nevada Day celebration and costume contest, 2-5 p.m. Saturday, at the Genoa Bar, 2282 Main St. Genoa. Shotgun salute by Devil Mountain Brigade following parade in Carson City. Old West costume party theme, but all costumers welcome. Live music by Playa Papaya, who are guitarist Larry Nair, singer Beth Oliveton, bassist/flautist Bill Quinby and percussionist Tom Rice.
The Genoa Bar, Nevada's Oldest Thirst Parlor, offers a free juke box 6-10 p.m. Tuesdays and free pool 6-10 p.m. Wednesdays.
