The R-C Morning Report

First lady Dawn Gibbons is in town today for the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce general membership luncheon. She and Nevada Volunteers Development manager Janet Wright will talk about volunteerism at the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce general membership luncheon, 11:45 a.m. today at the Overland Basque Restaurant in Gardnerville. Cost is $20 for chamber members, $25 for nonmembers. Reservations, 782-8144.

Thanks for all the volunteer, citizen and service group nominations. It has been a hard year for business and that's showing up in the nominations for employer and employee of the year. I'd like to see a few more of those before Friday's deadline for the annual Carson Valley awards.

Chichester is closed today near Marion Russell for road repair. Shoulder work on Kingsbury is continuing to reduce it down to a single lane about three miles up from Highway 50. For those of you whose travels take them north of Interstate 80 on Highway 395, the NHP is suggesting an alternative route through 7:45 a.m. to deal with an accident.

We're back to mostly sunny skies and high temperatures in the low 70s. It looks like the wet pattern from the early part of the month has disappeared for a bit, without a cloud on the horizon. Time to finish the roof and painting the eaves.
