EDITOR:
I want to thank you for the nice write-up on Dr. Frederick Wirth. But, there is missing from the article how great a neonatologist and friend he was.
I am a registered nurse and have worked with Dr. Wirth for many years. He was kind and gentle and had a passion for caring in the treatment of any neonate in our NICU.
He was always striving to improve prenatal care and worked hard to promote more positive outcomes for those mothers in preterm labor. His gentle calming voice and manner was able calm parents and family whether he was providing good or bad news to them.
He was well respected by all the NICU staff and will be sadly missed. He loved every moment he could spare to teach something new to the staff.
I want to let his family know he was well loved and his spirit is still inspiring in teaching NICU nurses.
