Touch of Class in ninth year

Staff Reports

The ninth annual A Touch of Class craft show is Oct. 16-18 at 1467 Glenwood Drive, Gardnerville. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, with more than 20 crafters. Free admission, hourly door prizes, complimentary coffee, tea and cookies at checkout.

The in-home craft show includes stocking stuffers, gifts, crafts, holiday decorations, jewelry, decorated clothing, baby blankets, hair ornaments, quilts and blankets, toys and pet items created by a group of local crafters ranging in age from 16 to 86. Crafters work as a team so there are no separate booths and customers check out in one location.

New this year at the A Touch of Class craft show is the Wacky and Wonderful Christmas Gift Room with gift items for everyone including pets, none over $20, most under $10.

The show benefits local area charities including Austin's House and the Kids' Fishing Derby. The show provides a drop-off area for donations of nonperishable food and monetary gifts for Back Pack Buddies, an organization formed to send food home on weekends with students whose families don't have enough to eat. Back Pack Buddies is most active in Scarcelli Elementary School, but the goal is to get more Douglas County schools involved in the project.
