Better Carpet Cleaner adds new services

A Better Carpet Cleaner of Indian Hills has added several new services to offer clients in the Carson Valley area, including grout color sealing and natural stone polishing.

Owner Stephen Jaenchen said grout has always been difficult for the consumer to clean and maintain, especially if it was never sealed properly after installation.

In that case, he said, even the high tech pressure cleaning system and cleaners can't always remove stubborn stains that have penetrated into the grout lines. Color sealing allows those stains to be covered at the same time the grout is sealed. Even where staining is not an issue, color sealing can enhance the beauty of one's existing tile and grout by offering a choice of colors and shades that the grout can be changed to, he said.

Jaenchen also said that natural stone flooring such as marble, travertine and limestone can be easily scratched or dulled (etched) by acids, improper cleaners and abrasive wear. Polishing out those imperfections has traditionally been an involved and very expensive proposition and one fraught with potential problems, he said. But a new technology developed recently enables polishing through the use of diamond embedded hog hair polishing pads and a standard floor buffing machine.

Jaenchen said maintaining one's existing flooring, whether carpeting, wood or tile usually saves money over buying new. It also benefits the environment by reducing landfill waste and the energy required to produce new products.
