Boys' Tennis: Douglas finishes season with win over Damonte Ranch

The Douglas boys' tennis team closed out its season Monday afternoon, beating Damonte Ranch 13-5 in Reno.

The Tigers got a clean sweep from its singles players as James TenBroeck, Garon Athanacio and Craig Stratton each picked up a trio of wins.

Matt Thomas and Matt Williams picked up a pair of wins as a doubles team, Grant Mason and Aaron Allen had one win and Tayler Christopher and Patton had one win.

"This was an important win for us," Douglas coach Rod Smith said. "It showed the team what they could do when we are at full strength. Having James back seemed to have a

positive effect on the other two singles players. Craig played his best tennis of the season, while Garon grinded his way to three victories as our singles team swept for the second time."

TenBroeck has been named the region's No. 1 seed heading into next week's individual regional championships. Athanacio will also be representing the Tigers, as will Thomas and Williams. Douglas has one more opening for a doubles team in the tournament, which Smith said will be determined later.
