Football: Raiders re-sign Russell, release Miller

ALAMEDA, Calif. (AP) - The Oakland Raiders brought back running back Gary Russell and released kick returner Justin Miller.

The Raiders had re-signed Miller last week but released him Wednesday after he averaged 17.7 yards on six returns in a 29-6 loss to Houston.

Russell provides insurance at running back with Darren McFadden out two to four weeks with a knee injury and also can help out as a kickoff returner. Russell was released at the end of training camp.
