Swimmers turn in top times at Autumn Freeze

The 2010 Autumn Freeze Swim meet took on a special meaning this year as the meet was dedicated to a loved and missed teammate, Molly Rae Lahlum.


More than 250 swimmers registered to swim, including 165 girls and 85 boys.


Of those, 61 train with the Douglas Dolfins Swim Team based at the Carson Valley Swim Center. 


The Dolfins produced a number of state qualifiers during the meet, who will be eligible to compete in the Nevada State Championships in Las Vegas in December.


Coach Sarah Davenport noted the following performances which highlight the excellent coaching and dedicated training of the team:  The team came together and swam best times, new time standards and won high point awards.


Stand outs were: Sophia Cruz swimming 11 seconds faster in her 50 free, Sarah Hyatt swimming a perfect meet, Ambrish Santhanam, Daniel Taylor 50 free, Mychael Belik 100 IM, Keala Forvilly Far Western time in 50 back, Jessie Jin perfect meet, Claire Christopher 28-second drop in her 200 free, Stephanie Gray 22 seconds on her 50 breast, Jordon Knowles 100 back, Shelby Koontz Far Westerns in her 400IM (first-time swimming) and 50 breast, Anne Lancaster 25 seconds off her 100 back, Zoe Maalouf 16 sec drop in her 100 free, Andrew Brockhage perfect meet, Adam Dack 200 IM, Eric Jacobs huge drops and perfect meet, Aditya 100 free, Clara Gray's 200 free and 100 back, Whitney Weaver perfect meet, Kyle Johnston broke a pool record in the 200 fly with the time of 2:10.19 and a new PRT (pacific recordable time), Jake VanBeuge improved freestyle, Janosch Lancaster perfect meet, Michelle Forman largest drop with 1 minute off her 1,000 free, and Eric VanBeuge had huge meet with great times and drops.
