Sheriff's office, Family Support receive donations

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Family Support Council are recipients of donations from the Jay G. Bourgerie Trust.

Bourgerie died July 20, 2008, at his home in Zephyr Cove.

The donations were presented by nephew Erik Bourgerie, executor of the trust.

He is a captain with the Summit (Colo. County Sheriff's Office and drove more than 1,100 miles to make the presentation Sept. 18.

Erik Bourgerie said his uncle, an entrepreneur and consultant, had a strong sense of community.

He said Jay Bourgerie recognized and understood the key role that law enforcement agencies and family support groups play in their communities.

His uncle instructed in his trust that these donations be made to the sheriff's office and the Family Support Council.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office Youth Services/DARE/GREAT programs and the Douglas County Sheriff's Protection Association each received donations of $15,000.

The Family Support Council received a donation of $37,500.
