Edgewood donates to Austin's House

Edgewood Companies has donated $8,250 to the Austin Kirby Foundation, the largest benefactor of Austin's House, an emergency children's shelter providing services to children from rural Northern Nevada, who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect.

This most recent donation is one of many over the years to the charity, with a total of $30,950 over the last three years alone from Edgewood Companies.

The $8,250 donated to the Austin Kirby Foundation will be used by Austin's House specifically to cover their annual land lease with the Bureau of Land Management. In addition to monetary contributions to the children's charity, Edgewood Companies has also donated use of their land for an event that raised more than $50,000 for the charity.

"Edgewood Companies takes pride in being a good neighbor in our shared community," said Brad Nelson, president and CEO of Edgewood Companies. "We have a deeply rooted commitment to the Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe region and our recent donation to Austin's House as well as our other charitable commitments we participate in throughout the year is our formal way of actively demonstrating our humanitarian philosophies and passion to help our neighbors."

"Over the years Edgewood Companies has been incredibly supportive of our efforts," said Kathleen Miller, executive director of Austin's House. "We are extremely grateful for this most recent donation and their continued generosity towards Austin's House and the children we serve."

With the roots of the company tracing back to 1872, Edgewood Companies is the new identity of Park Cattle Co., one of Nevada's oldest agriculture and diversified real estate companies.

Handed down from generation to generation, the family-controlled Edgewood Companies owns and continues to develop land for housing communities, casino resorts, and other properties, including the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course & Restaurant and more than 4,500 acres of ranch land in Carson Valley.
