Nina Major is the featured artist at the Copeland Cultural Arts Center in October.
Major creates watercolor paintings of natural subjects emphasizing realistic details in her Nature Portrait series. Aspens have been a favorite subject, but she uses sea turtles and tropical subjects after a visit to Hawaii.
"I want the viewer to notice something about my subjects that they would not normally notice," Major said.
The Copeland Cultural Arts Center is 1572 Highway 395 in Minden. Regular hours are noon to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Information, (775) 781-0150.
