Poker run successful

EDITOR:

The third Annual Austin's House Poker Run on Sept. 19 was a huge success. We raised $10,031 during this annual event. The children of Austin's House are and will be forever grateful for the all of the hard work, time and love that everyone put into making this year's poker run a success. The first and largest donation came from Carson City Toyota in the amount of $2,500.

Nearly 200 motorcycles and cars toured Genoa, Markleeville, Topaz and Heritage Park in Gardnerville in an effort to contribute to this great cause. What a generous area we enjoy here.

It was a sun-filled and fun-filled day. A bunch of generous people taking a Saturday cruise, listening to live classic rock (Dean Brownell and group of Bluefingers Productions offered their talents at no charge and furthermore, wouldn't allow us to even pay for their gas), having a barbecue (put on by our local 20/30 club at no charge), at a beautiful tree-surrounded park with lush lawns - the Town of Gardnerville waived the usage fee.

With over 80 donated raffle prizes, many participants were winners of quite a variety of items (golf rounds, a cord of firewood delivered, dinners, massages, car washes, auto and motorcycle services, tattoos, gym membership, many gift certificates.) A great time was had by all.

My thanks to all of the people who worked tirelessly to help wherever and whenever they could. There were a lot of people who gave a little and a ton who gave a lot. This would be five-pages if I listed them individually, so please know that I appreciate everything you all did, and hopefully your feelings aren't hurt if I didn't specifically name your contribution. Thanks everyone and let's do it again next year!
