Deeth resident named outstanding Nevada Cattlewomen

Deeth resident Meredith Trindle, current president of the Nevada Cattlewomen was named the Outstanding Nevada CattleWoman of 2009 during their annual meeting at the California/Nevada Cattlemen/CattleWomen's Convention held at the Nugget in Sparks.

Trindle was chosen for this year's award from a selection of nominees. She has been active in the NVCW for a few short years, stepping in to chair at least two Elko County committees, participate in several other state level committees and last fall volunteered to serve as state NVCW President in the absence of other successful nominations. In addition Trindle, who is always volunteering to help wherever needed and takes on whatever job is presented, also encouraged Marcia Conforti and Angie Taylor to accept office nominations as state NVCW Secretary and Treasurer. All three were re-elected to serve a second term.

In 2009 Trindle attended a number of State, Region VI and National CattleWomen events, including the National Beef Cook-Off in Sonoma, Calif., and the Clark County Fair with the Nevada Beef Council, reporting back to the membership the important issues being addressed and events taking place. This year she has also worked with the Nevada Cattlemen's Association to have CattleWomen's dues collected as part of the annual dues billing statement which has all ready brought in several renewals. Trindle was successful in also working with NVCA to participate in this year's annual fund-raising raffle, awarding a third place gift basket valued at over $400 for 10 percent of net proceeds.

Trindle and husband Tom are lifetime ranchers, living and working on the family homestead in Baker County, Ore., prior to coming to Nevada. Trindle joined Cowbelles/CattleWomen in 1978 and held all the offices in her local Oregon Cowbelle group including two terms as president. On arriving in Nevada in 2004 she immediately looked up and joined the Elko County CattleWomen where she currently serves as secretary in addition to being state NVCW President.
