1966-2009

A celebration of life is Sunday at 11 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sparks for Andrew (Andy) Albert Springmeyer. Mr. Springmeyer died Nov. 25, 2009, of heart failure, at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno. He was 42.

Mr. Springmeyer was born Dec. 22, 1966, in Reno to Barbara and Albert Springmeyer. He had a great love of the outdoors, especially when he was fishing.

Mr. Springmeyer was injured in a diving accident in 1989 that left him in a wheelchair, but he never allowed his handicap to slow him down, and became a strong advocate for the disabled.

He and his wife Alisha Leonard Springmeyer, whom he married June 27, 1998, in Gardnerville, worked for more than 12 summers organizing and running camps for underprivileged youth.

Mr. Springmeyer received many awards including Scoutmaster of the Millennium for his community work.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry.

He is survived by his wife; sons Charles, Isaiah, Caleb, and Logan; daughter Karina; brothers Tom, Dan and Cliff Springmeyer; sisters Susan Nelson and Martha Voss; uncle Les Springmeyer, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family friends.

A memorial fund has been set up in Mr. Springmeyer's name for his family. Donations may be mailed to PO Box 1744, Minden NV 89423.

A celebration of life is 11 a.m. Sunday in the parish hall of Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1900 First St., Sparks, at the corner of First Street and Richards Way.
