Charlotte J. Tucker

1923-2008

Charlotte J. Tucker died May 12, 2008, in Gardnerville. She was 85.

Mrs. Tucker was born March 26, 1923, in Victorville, Colo., to Stanley and Annie Jones.

She moved to Gardnerville 8-1/2 years ago from Southern California.

Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathye Black, on Aug. 31, 2007, in Phoenix.

She is survived by daughter Vickie Tisch of Gardnerville.

No services were held.

Cremation took place at FitzHenry's Crematory in Carson City.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley was in charge of arrangements.

Frank D. Gregory Jr.

1921-2008

A celebration of life is set for 11 a.m. May 31, 2008, at the Carson Valley Inn for Frank D. Gregory Jr. Mr. Gregory died May 21, 2008, at age 87.

He was born and raised in Roseville, Calif., and attended Chico State College.

Mr. Gregory taught in the Sonoma County School district for approximately 40 years. He was a life member of the California Teachers Association and a member of the Sonoma Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Gregory served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife Evelyn and their sons Robert, John and Mark, and grandchildren Julie and Jessica.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City was in charge of arrangements.

Della May Wood

1911-2008

A funeral service is set for 2 p.m., June 1, 2008, at Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville for Della May Wood. Mrs. Wood died May 26, 2008, at age 97 in Reno.

She was born Jan, 22, 1911, in Herrick, S.D., to Edward B. Bryan and Lydia L. Wagner.

The family moved to Gardnerville when Mrs. Wood was 7 and lived there until they moved to Markleeville in 1932.

She married Archie Wood on Feb. 22, 1932, in Reno.

She was a member of the Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville and the Carson City Eastern Star Chapter.

Mrs. Wood loved to sew, crochet, work with pottery and do art work.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Archie in 1983 and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by sons Archie (Mina) Wood of Markleeville and David (Myra) Wood of Las Vegas; daughter Helen Balliette of Reno; brothers Martin and Bill Bartels, both of Yerington; sister Doreen Hussman of Sacramento, eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pastor Pete Nelson is officiating at the service with burial at Fredricksburg Cemetery in Markleeville.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City is in charge of arrangements.

Amber Hatley

1977-2008

Lake Tahoe resident Amber Desiree Hatley died April 26, 2008. A memorial was held by her friends at the Eagles Nest on Kingsbury Grade on May 1, 2008, with a formal service held May 2, 2008, at McFarlane Mortuary in South Lake Tahoe.

An inurnment is planned for the end of June when Miss Hatley will be placed near her grandfather James Ray Garrison in the Wall of Love at Walton's Carson Gardens.

Miss Hatley was born April 13, 1977, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital in Carson City to John W. Hatley and Mindy C. Hatley.

She spent her childhood in Gardnerville, and was a graduate of Douglas High School. She was a contract employee for Internet Ventures Group at Swift Communications in Reno. She loved her friends, music, dancing, the outdoors, sea turtles and cooking.

Miss Hatley was an avid snowboarder, loved all water sports and planning parties. The two most important people to Miss Hatley were her love, Keenan Corrigan, and her best friend, Sarah Koerner.

Miss Hatley was preceded in death by her grandfather, James Ray Garrison of Carson City, and grandparents Perry and Velda Hubbard, formerly of South Lake Tahoe.

She is survived by her grandmother Joan Garrison of Carson City, her father John W. Hatley of Carson City, mother and stepfather Mindy and Miles Long and stepsister AJ Long of Eagle, Idaho, sisters Teresa Hatley Wangelin of Neenah, Wis., and Kim Hatley of Gardnerville; stepfather Dana Thede and brothers Drew Thede of Green Bay, Wis., John Wayne Hatley and Brian Hatley of Gardnerville, nieces Shelby Daves, Areawyn and Uriah Wangelin of Neenah, Wis., uncle Ray Garrison of Carson City and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Frederick Springmeyer

1954-2008

A celebration of life is set for 10 a.m., June 21,2008, at the J Lazy J Ranch, 575 Mottsville Lane, Gardnerville, in memory of Frederick Springmeyer. Mr. Springmeyer died April 21, 2008, in Minden. He was 53.

Mr. Springmeyer was born June 24, 1954, in Reno and grew up in South Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley.

He graduated from Douglas County High School in 1972 and attended military school in San Rafael, Calif.

He was in the U.S. Army in Fort Jackson, S.C. He also attended Bible school at Gresham, Ore.

Mr. Springmeyer had a life-long appreciation for the arts and was a gifted piano player. He was interested in science and philosophy, pursuing those interests by taking many community college classes.

He enjoyed a wide and diverse circle of friends. Paying no attention to color or creed, Mr. Springmeyer was a friend to many from all walks of life.

He was preceded in death by his father Melvin "Buzz" Springmeyer and sister Connie Springmeyer. He is survived by his mother Marjorie Johnson Springmeyer of Minden, his brother Jon Springmeyer of Carson City, cousins and relatives throughout the area and his dog, Tippy.
