Tonight's the night

Carson Valley Middle School presents their second annual Girls Night Out, 6-9:30 p.m. Nov. 20, in the Shannon Ballroom at the Carson Valley Inn. Cost is $5. Shopping, socializing with friends and music benefits the school's student welfare program, which provides new classroom technology and supports student recognition programs. Operation Christmas Child

Fill shoe boxes with school supplies, toys, necessity items, hard candy and a letter of encouragement for the Operation Christmas Child effort to create gifts for needy children worldwide. Collection is week is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today through Sunday, and 8-9 a.m. Monday at Carson Valley Christian Center, 1095 Stephanie Way, Minden. Harvest dinner Sunday

The harvest dinner and silent auction fundraiser for the Topaz Community Open Bible Church building fund is 1-4 p.m. Nov. 22 at the TRE Community building. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children.

The church was created in 1996 with Pastor Ron and Nanci Carter serving the church and community since 1998. The dinner and silent auction is a fundraiser for the construction of the church building.

Fundraiser at Pizza Barn

A fundraiser is planned to raise awareness about congenital diaphragmatic hernia, 3-9 p.m. Nov. 27, at Pizza Barn, 1544 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

Walker resident Shannon Minder's infant nephew Michael Joseph Skaggs died as the result of the condition that affects unborn babies. Proceeds of the fundraiser benefit the nonprofit Breath of Hope organization that creates awareness and provides support for families affected by CHD. Information at www.breathofhopeinc.com
