A celebration of life is 1 p.m. today at High Sierra Fellowship for World War II and Korean War veteran Gardnerville resident Leopold Pieters, 84, who died Nov. 13, 2009.
Born Nov. 7, 1925, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Chris Heyman.
Mr. Pieters is survived by wife Petronella of Gardnerville; children Irene and Warren Wear of Whittier, Calif., Alex and Nancy Pieters of Minden, Jenny and Bert Heyman of Riverside, Calif., Olaf and Lupe Pieters of Gardnerville and Agie and Marc Gentile of Carson City; eight grandchildren Tanya, Kirsten, Stephen, Mark, Victoria, Taylor, Jacob, and Emily; and three great grandchildren Kristofer, Ava, and Aubrie.
A viewing was Tuesday at Walton's Funerals and Cremations at 1521 Church Street, Gardnerville.
High Sierra Fellowship is located at 1426 Industrial Way in Gardnerville. A reception will follow at son Alex Pieters home, 1559 Deseret, Minden.
