A memorial service is 2 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel in Carson City for eight-year Minden resident Ivan LeRoy Zimmerman, 66, who died May 23, 2009, in Carson City.
Born Dec. 5, 1942, in Upland, Calif., to Arlo and Audrey Zimmerman, Mr. Zimmerman was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam as a radio operator. He moved to Minden from San Jose, Calif. Mr. Zimmerman worked as a transportation manager for Skyway Freight Systems in Watsonville, Calif., for 18 years. More recently he was a security officer at the Carson Valley Inn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Mitchell LeRoy Zimmerman.
He is survived by wife, Nancy of Minden; daughters Kimberly Zimmerman of Discovery Bay, Calif., and Adrian (Scott) McManus of Elk Grove, Calif.; two grandchildren, Samantha and Matthew McManus.
